Aqua what ?

  About a week ago, we sold an aquarium to a gentlemen that was so excited about starting his own marine aquarium reef and was successful in setting everything up, we guided him and explained the basics of reef keeping... Then came the BUT, he was having difficulty aquascaping the aquarium, Owning a store for 10 years we noticed that aquascaping is one of the most frustrating things to do for the majority of hobbyist.

Many have asked what is aquascaping: simply refers to the manner in which the rockwork and aquarium décor is arranged in the tank.

Here are some tips that will help:

• Being visual will be a great advantage,so go to your local fish store and hand select the rock
• Treat the live rock like clay. Don't be afraid to drill it, chisel it, or break it
• Clear your mind and think how or where your going to lay or arrange the rock
• Visualize caves, valleys, peaks and most of all channels
• Less is more, don't pile the rock or over do it
• Never start in the middle
• Flip, turn or pivot the rock to ensure the best placement
• Keep in mind that that you must have good water flow through and around the aquascape
• Most of all have fun you are the artist and beauty is in the eye of the beholder
